Adhesives for the automotive industry

Basically all parts of a vehicle use glue. It can be about, for example, electronics, sensors, sealing of fuel tanks, structural gluing of bodies and gluing of details in both the interior and exterior.

The advantages of gluing in automotive applications are many, but among the most important is that gluing saves weight compared to other joining methods such as screws and bolts. Lower weight leads to better energy efficiency. Glue can also increase comfort by reducing squeaks, rattles and vibrations and provide increased strength and safety

DuPont BETAMATE is a range of structural adhesives that offer alternatives to joining methods such as welding and mechanical interlocks. BETAMATE glue is used, for example, for gluing bodies, doors, roofs, seats, floors and other load-bearing joints. DuPont BETACLEAN and DuPont BETAPRIME are specially developed for cleaning and priming surfaces to be glued with automotive adhesive.

We also provide a variety of other brands with use in the automotive industry in one way or another.

Grid gluing

Elastic polyurethane is used to glue windshields on cars. They are capable of withstanding large deformation without losing strength or other desirable properties. Polyurethane adhesives for windscreens are robust, wear-resistant and durable enough to withstand the elements for a very long time.

There is one focus when it comes to grid gluing - safety. DuPont (formerly Dow Automotive) is a big name in the industry.

DuPont BETASEAL is a series of grid adhesives that includes both 1-component moisture-curing products and 2-component products.

For less demanding grid bonding, many choose to use an MS polymer instead.
