Polyurethane encapsulants
When molding electronics, polyurethane is the most common material with the most spread. This applies especially when used in very large volumes where the price is crucial. But it is also because polyurethane is available in so many forms with many different properties from soft to hard and for low and high temperature respectively. There are products with fire protection classification according to UL94-V0, ATEX, train EN45545, thermally conductive in a number of different heat classes, gels and transparent materials for LEDs. Casting with polyurethane provides good protection even at low temperatures. Under the polyurethane group, the group polybutadiene for injection molding is also usually added. Polybutadiene has even better low-temperature properties, low moisture absorption and good radio properties.
